As the bride's sister, Marissa would label Becca a "day one homie". Becca is a brilliant scientist, The Officd fanatic, and makeup extraordinaire. The two sisters have been through life's ups and downs together; no matter what new adventure Marissa has set her mind to, her sister has always been there to cheer her on. She's missing her last week of class before finals in her senior year to be here- sister of the year award!
Kevin
Groomsman
Kevin and Jon met at their college’s orientation freshman year and have been the best of friends ever since. They often stayed up into the wee hours of the morning talking about soccer, music, and going on barefoot runs around the nation’s capital. Kevin is a mechanical engineer who loves basketball, Kendrick Lamar, and late night café chats. Marissa and Jon have both built a vulnerable and genuine friendship with Kevin over the last six years and they're so excited to have him alongside them on their special day.
Jo Jo
Groomsman
Jon and Jo Jo were casual friends in high school but quickly grew close when they decided to sweep their high school’s Mr. Washington contest with a stellar talent portion that involved back flips, shoe polish spiked hair, and accidentally breaking school property. They’re friendship became much deeper as they both decided to earnestly and intentionally seek the heart of Jesus together. Jo Jo now works as a youth pastor in Arizona but still keeps in regular contact and Marissa has yet to meet him in person. Jon’s so excited for the introduction!
Kimber
Bridesmaid
While Marissa waited to use the communal toaster in her dorm freshman year at GW, she would often hang out in the room of the really nice girl whose name she could never remember... little did she know that girl would become such a dear friend! Kimber is a creative event planner, spot on with her fashion advice, and one of the best bagel and coffee buddies Marissa knows. Jon and Marissa are thankful for all her encouragement, excitement and advice during this exciting season!
Krista
Bridesmaid
One of Jon's closest friends since freshman year, Marissa grew in relationship with Krista as they served on their college Christian fellowship's leadership team. Krista has a beautiful voice and a talent for music, a heart that cares for her people, and is just a joy to hang out with. She is a prayer warrior that Jon and Marissa are honored to have by their side!
Nate
Groomsman
Nate and Jon are often on a different wave length than those around them, but that’s what makes them such close friends. As roommates Sophomore year, Nate was always down to have sporadic and ridiculous adventures around the city and to this day, Nate’s the first one Jon will call up when he’s looking to have a fun time. Nate is a gifted linguist with a passion for international development and urban planning. Nate has walked alongside Jon in so many ways over the years and will definitely make for a fun addition to this wedding party.
Tim
Groomsman
Tim’s lame. Jon and Marissa don’t even know why he’s on here. It’s like… that’s totally not true at all! Tim gets the award for being Jon’s longest friend in the wedding party, running out of movie theaters for talking too much since middle school. Tim is an extremely gifted graffiti artist and designer who regularly takes risks in life and has encouraged Jon to do the same. Marissa hasn’t met him in person yet either so there are going to be a lot of fun introductions at this wedding.
Zinhle
Bridesmaid
Another sweet friend made freshman year of college, Zinhle and Marissa have been grateful for the ways God has grown and challenged them alongside one another, as their life experiences have frequently overlapped! From graduating early, to finding new jobs, to growing hearts for justice, Zinhle and Marissa have been a steady encouragement to one another. Zinhle is a film maker, news reporter, and a lover of all things punny. Jon and Marissa look forward to Zinhle being by their side as God takes them to the next new thing.
Kristen
Bridesmaid
After bonding over Hawk Nelson during their church's Freshman Frenzy event as wide eyed and dreaming 14 year olds, Marissa and Kristen became fast friends. Over the last 10 years they have pushes one another to pursue Jesus and have supported one another in each of their steps into ministry. A friend who has become like family (to all the Salgados!) Marissa and Jon are grateful to have Kristen walking with them on this new journey.
Ladi
Groomsman
Jon spent his entire senior year of high school carpooling with Ladi to and from school everyday. As you can imagine, they had a lot for time to build a strong relationship with each other. Ladi is one of the smartest people Jon knows and is on his way to one day be a world class brain surgeon. Ladi is the only person on the wedding party who is already married and offers a whole host of wisdom for Jon and Marissa. They’re very excited to be able to spend this day with not just Ladi, but his whole family as well!
