Jon knew Juliya's old roommates while living in Raleigh and it just so happened one of them accepted a job in Florida working for Disney a few months after Jon moved to Orlando. Juliya always wanted to live somewhere tropical and jumped at the chance to move in with her old roommate when he moved to sunny Florida. After hearing the news, Juliya's roommate showed Jon her Facebook profile picture and the rest was history. Jon knew it was going to be something special and even mentioned the idea of the possibility to his co-workers the following day. Jon got Juliya's number through an acquaintance and asked her to hang out with him and his friends at a local honkey tonk. Juliya hesitated and said she needed to check her schedule, but then quickly replied with "Oh wait, I don't have any friends here" and agreed to go. From then, they were nearly inseparable. In Jon's eyes, Juliya was only hanging around to use his Costco membership. This girl loves to shop! After countless trips to Costco, Target, Homegoods, a number of beach trips, and endless laughter, the two developed a deep relationship and knew it was something with a future.

Jon knew Juliya was the one after a couple dates, but for some reason, he took 2 years to propose. Jon planned the entire event trying to find a way to get Juliya to go with the flow and not ask questions, as she always does. Jon had the perfect idea and told Juliya that his sister's boyfriend was going to propose while they were in town so she had to keep his sister busy and meet up with them at the beach later that week. This was the perfect time because they were all together in preparation of a road trip to their next vacation in Hilton Head Island, and Juliya's sister Ella was joining them this year. Jon constructed an arch with string lighting, candle lights, and pictures set up in the shape of a heart on the beach at New Smyrna. The group met up and walked to the setup where Juliya was expecting to watch the proposal of Jon's sister. When they arrived at the arch, Jon took Juliya by the hand, told her to look closer at the pictures, and directed her attention to a sign he made at the top of the arch that read "It Was Always You". It took Juliya a couple breaths and a few cus words, but she finally knew she was the one getting proposed to. After Jon presented her ring of choice in a seashell, she said Yes! To help celebrate, their puppies arrived with "Engaged AF" balloons and a sign hanging from their lab that read "My Humans are Getting Married!" Juliya is still in shock that Jon was able to pull this off without her knowing.
