We recently experienced an irreplaceable loss with the death of Jon's father, Bruce Herrboldt, on March 24th, 2022. Bruce made Erin feel incredibly welcome in the kind, loving, goofy, and incredibly intentional and thoughtful Herrboldt family from the first time they met. He was Jon's role model, confidant, and friend. He was a pastor who served his community and had planned to lead us in the renewal of our vows on April 23rd, 2022. There will be an incredible void during our wedding celebration this year, but Bruce would have wanted us to continue with our plans, and the Herrboldt family believes in finding time to celebrate during times of grief. We share this with you because Jon's mother – LaVonne; siblings – Beth, Micah, and Jessie; aunts, uncles, and cousins will be attending the celebration on the 23rd. We ask that you send your condolences – if moved to – before our celebration, and be respectful of the mix of emotions the Herrboldt family will be feeling on this day. We have found some comfort in sharing stories of Bruce, knowing his spirit continues on with us, and that Bruce had the beautiful opportunity to marry all four of his children – including our small wedding last year in the Smoky Mountains. With much love, Jon & Erin P.S. If you would like to learn more about Bruce, we share his obituary here: https://www.kirkfuneralhome.com/obituary/rev-bruce-herrboldt.
We're excited to see everyone at our wedding celebration! While we were officially married in April of 2021, we decided to celebrate our wedding almost exactly one year later in Austin, TX. Please use the RSVP tab to let us know your plans, and then check out the "Things to Do" tab to explore many of our favorite things to do in Austin!
After careful consideration, we decided to postpone our larger wedding celebration. We chose to get married at a small celebration with our immediate family in April 2021, and we will celebrate with you all on April 23rd, 2022 - in Austin, TX.
In the spring of 2015, Jon and Erin found themselves in the same grad school friend group - attending concerts, playing intramural sports, and enjoying the tasty eats of Austin, TX! Erin realized that she wanted to get to know Jon better during a group lunch where Jon told the sweetest stories about his family (awwww). After a few failed attempts to get Jon's attention, a little Texas two-stepping (with some "encouragement") brought Jon and Erin together. Their first date included Michi Ramen, drinks at Easy Tiger, and a Wood Brothers show at the Parish. It was bliss, and they never looked back! After a beautiful November day spent with friends in the Texas Hill Country, Jon proposed in the peace and quiet of their home and Erin said yes. They have been together through Jon's graduation and transition to his first engineering job at Carollo Engineers, Erin's dissertation writing and defense, and their first big move together to Knoxville, TN. While Jon and Erin are not nearly as good at two-stepping as they believed that first night, they have significantly improved their skills over the last five years. They are excited to continue learning and growing for a lifetime together, and they hope to celebrate their commitment with all their favorite people!
