Jon and Brittany met on August 2nd, 2014 on the second day of the Freshman Summer Start Program at UC Santa Barbara. Despite Jon having introduced himself as “Jonathan," Brittany incorrectly and repeatedly called him, “Justin” (not knowing this was his dad’s name). To help, Jon approved of her calling him “Jonny," and it wasn’t long until they became best friends, and he was "Jonny Boy.” Over the course of their Freshman year, it became clear to both of them that their friendship was special, and that they would always be in each others’ lives. They continued to strengthen their friendship over the next few years while living across the street from each other in Isla Vista. In the fall of 2017, Jon and Brittany had their first thoughts of what their relationship might look like as more than friends. After months of denial, they had their first official date on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2018. Jon visited Brittany and her family for Easter a couple of months later, and his feelings were solidified (but Brittany’s already had been). They began dating on April 18th, 2018… only to later be married on April 23rd, 2023. :)
