Christ's Saving Grace

Our journey as a couple has had many bumps in the road. We are two broken people from very different worlds. Jon was agnostic and I was seeking religion over a relationship with Christ. These past five years have stretched us, molded us, and have played a huge role in who we are as individuals as well as a couple. We were in desperate need of God's grace and mercy. Just as who we were, Christ transformed us and now we are going forth in His name. We try our best to put Him in the center of our lives as we love each other and those around us. So welcome to our imperfect love story. We would not be here without God's never-ending love.

How we met

June 2013: High School Sweethearts

The first day we ever laid eyes on one another was high school gym class. Jon was an athletic (and he still is) senior moving all over the court, making it almost impossible for me to hit the volleyball back to the other side. He continued to charm me from a distance until the following week in study hall he asked me to come sit with him in the library. I was trying to study for my Chemistry exam as he continued to distract me. He continued to meet me in the library for the next few days before he graduated, as we exchanged conversations from soccer to world travel. He really began to fall in love with me (hehehe). Our first date (the night before he graduated) was at Polar Cub (a local ice cream shop), we finished the night with a nice drive out into the countryside for some beautiful stargazing. This was the start of our forever journey as best friends!

The Proposal

July 5, 2017: The Best Four Year Anniversary Ever

Jon: Now every man can relate to the stress and pressure that comes with proposing to the woman they love. Proposals have an unspoken expectation that is different for everyone. Every woman has their dream of a proposal that is on par with their favorite Hallmark or Romance movie, and I wanted to make sure I made Amy feel like she was in her very own Hallmark. Thus the planning began..... It started with contacting friends that could help in this endeavor. Amy was on high alert for an expected proposal, so I had to plan a trip with friends to conceal my true intentions. I organized a camping/hiking trip with some good friends to the Catskills in New York where we would hang out like normal the first day, and then take a nice walk to the Ashoken Reservoir that evening where I would pop the question during the best sunset over the mountains. Amy: I was overwhelmed with emotion and shaking. But I knelt down on both knees to meet him with tears in my eyes, saying, "Yes, of course, sweetie!" Jon: It was the perfect day: perfect weather, a perfect sunset, and a perfect reaction from a perfect girl! Her very own Hallmark moment brought to life. I LOVE you Amy!
