Neither of us were thrilled about the idea of trying online dating, but we inevitably both found ourselves joining the rest of the world online, swiping to find the "one". Coincidentally, we were each other's first match, sharing skydiving and Dutch Bro's in common, we began talking. Little did I know, Marlyss was in an extremely busy season. Between school, work, nights in the theatre and sometimes mornings in the theatre. After a couple weeks of no opportunity to meet, I began to wonder if she ever actually would want to meet in person. After returning from a weekend of military duties, I decided it had to be now or never, so I reached out and asked her to grab a drink. Realizing her night was activity free, in a moment of what felt to her like crazed, reckless abandon, she agreed and we settled on Sherwood McMenamins. After a couple drinks, some random questions, and an awkward hug goodnight, a spark was made and we were off on our adventure.
When Jonah was invited to join my family on a trip to Disneyland, he knew the time had come. He began work on an elaborate scavenger hunt down Disneyland Main Street complete with a hand drawn map, personalized clues and my (first) set of Micky ears. On the last day of the trip he managed to break us away from the family to meet up with some friends who he had follow us around with a camera. A silhouette portrait, smashed penny and two pairs of Micky ears later, we end up at Snow White's Wishing Well where he asked me to make a wish and then, on one knee, told me "I wish to spend the rest of my life with you".
