Our Story

Jonah's Side After a dozen or so first dates in his first year in Atlanta, Jonah just hadn’t found anyone that “clicked.” But it’s not fair to blame that on Bumble – how’s an app supposed to find the right girl if she’s not in-range? Unfortunately for Jonah, Lindsey was still finishing up her master’s degree in Athens. But fortunately for Jonah, Lindsey made it to Atlanta in Spring 2018. Hinge made good on its marketing (“The dating app designed to be deleted”) and made the connection. We, kind reader, were off to the races. A first date at Dancing Goats Coffee established a time-honored Jonah-Lindsey tradition of devising implausible business ideas (dating app that uses an algorithm to show what potential matches will look like in 30 years instead of what they look like today). A second date saw Jonah caught in the rain on the way to meet Lindsey for dinner at Krog Street Market. Soaking wet, he called Lindsey to apologize in advance for his appearance. She responded with a line that could have been pulled straight from a rom-com: “Want me to run out in the rain too so we match?” Despite Jonah spending the rest of the date in damp jeans, it went swimmingly (no more puns, we promise). At the end of the night Jonah walked Lindsey back to her car, but they steered away from the elevator. Instead, they walked up the 5-story parking garage ramp by ramp – neither wanted the night to end. Lindsey's Side One morning shortly after graduation, Lindsey woke up to a message from Jonah on recently-downloaded dating app Hinge. To her surprise, the profile that popped up was a familiar face – someone she had seen around UGA’s campus (and, more specifically, sat next to in Honors 1000 freshman year). She had always thought he was handsome, but Freshman-year Lindsey was too shy to say anything. It had only taken 5 years, but they finally connected. Two weeks later, in a busy coffee shop in Midtown Atlanta, Lindsey met the handsome boy from Hinge, pretended to understand what he did for a living, and babbling about ways to improve the dating app scene. While she left the coffee shop thinking “Who knows if I’ll ever hear from him again,” to her delight she received a message later that day asking for a second date. From then on, Lindsey and Jonah have spent every day passing back and forth odd business ideas, sharing a mutual love of home improvement and real estate listings, and detailing their latest learnings on random Wikipedia deep dives. It didn’t take long for Lindsey to realize Jonah was the real deal. While the creative dates he planned and the elaborate meals he cooked made her swoon, more importantly, he proved to be the most encouraging, thoughtful, and comforting companion she could ask for. She couldn’t wait for a lifetime by his side. The Proposal Fast-forward two-and-a-half years, and Jonah was ready to make a move. Days spent hiking in North Georgia, trips together around the US, and mornings spent playing board games with manuals approaching novel-length had proven that Lindsey was the perfect match. By the end of December 2020, Lindsey's parents, Lee Ann and Terry, were on board with the plan, the ring was procured, and the Driggers family was en route to Atlanta. As they headed out for what she thought was just a dinner with friends, Jonah and Lindsey discovered that the parking garage’s elevator was broken (it wasn’t really). Forced to replicate that second date, they walked to Lindsey’s car hand-in-hand, ramp-by-ramp. On the top floor, Jonah and Lindsey walked to the edge of the parking deck and looked out over their favorite neighborhood in the city, the Atlanta skyline coming alive in the background as the sun went down. Jonah got down on one knee and asked Lindsey to marry him. To his infinite delight, Lindsey gave an emphatic “yes.” We’re so excited that you’ve chosen to celebrate that “yes” on Jekyll Island with us this September. Thank you for being a part of our story!
