"You should talk to our friend" were the words that started it all. We were at a birthday party in downtown Houston when one of Jonah's friends suggested that Cassandra and Jonah meet. One tiki drink and three hours of conversation later, we both knew it wouldn't be the last night we saw each other. A few days later we had our first date that started with Jonah going to the wrong house, followed by dinner at Vieng Thai, and finished with an impromptu visit to a piano bar where Cassandra's friend was singing. Cassandra knew it was getting serious when Jonah listened to the complete Mandolin Orange discography after telling him it was her favorite band. Jonah knew it was getting serious when he missed a Chiefs game to pick up Cassandra at the airport a few weeks later, and the rest is history!

At the place where we had one of our first dates - the very date we both realized we had fallen in love with each other - Jonah pulled off the biggest surprise and asked Cassandra to spend the rest of her life with him. Or maybe he worded it differently, neither one of us can remember a word that was said. What we do remember is that July 17, 2021 was the best evening and the perfect start to the rest of our lives together. We were giddy as we walked around the Houston Arboretum, all dressed up (thanks to Jonah faking a dinner with his boss to get Cassandra to dress up) and sweating profusely in the July humidity, we had never been happier. On the way to dinner, Cassandra was too excited to even consider that the surprises weren't over, but inside the restaurant were both families. It was the best weekend celebrating our future and we cannot wait to celebrate with everyone on June 4, 2022!
