time to celebrate!

We met on October 7th, 2014 at Seville Quarter, in Pensacola, through mutual friends. The night started out with us listening and singing to the dueling pianos and ended with us dancing on the dance floor. We went on a few amazing dates after that and thought that the end was just around the corner. Three weeks after we met, I dropped Jon off at the airport. Jon was heading to Hawaii for his next duty station. I thought that we would stop calling each other after a few weeks, but we actually got closer. Jon surprised me by flying back to Pensacola for Christmas. That was when I knew that Jon and I had something to fight for. After a year and a half of long distance, it was so long Florida and hello Hawaii! The next two and a half years were pure paradise. After a six month deployment in Japan and Korea, Jon came back to Hawaii and we spent our days hiking, swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the islands. After that chapter of our lives closed, we moved back to Florida and bought our first home! We aren't sure where the future will take us, but we do know that we will have each other to get through anything that is thrown at us.

For our five year anniversary, we went on a trip to Anna Maria Island. The day started out with gourmet doughnuts and laying out on the beach. Then we went to a nice dinner at Blue Marlin and headed back to the Airbnb to carve pumpkins. We walked up to the rooftop balcony and set up our carving kits. Jon was lighting candles and I was popping a bottle of Champagne. I turned around to give him a glass and I saw him on one knee. I started crying and he asked me to marry him. I said yes! We kissed and he put the most beautiful ring on my finger! It started to rain so we went downtown to celebrate. Best Day Ever!
