As all good love stories these days go, it started with a swipe. Both looking for love and both having their fair share of online failures, meeting online didn’t seem like a sure thing. But sure enough after swiping right on each other with the dating app, Bumble, it sparked a series of events that would change each others life forever. After connecting in late May of 2018, chatting and having great text chemistry (so much that they planned the second date before going on their first) they finally were able to met up for a drink at centrally located bar. The only problem being that Nate was on time and Karen was 45 minutes late, as she didn’t calculate traffic coming from her new job. She texted Nate the entire time she was late, even though he was positive she didn’t really exist and she was really the bearded lady sitting in the corner of the bar catfishing him. When Karen did arrive, the online chemistry was real and they began going on many dates and quickly became exclusive. Karen became a fan of the Ducks, joined Nate’s softball team and learned all of the inner-workings of the Bachelor. Nate learned quickly about all the good Bravo TV shows, running long-distances, and the world of financials in Healthcare. Nate and Karen continued to grow closer and closer, integrating Nate’s daughter, Sloane, into their lives and loving every minute together. For Karen, she didn't know what to expect in life, but then, along came Jolly... #AlongCameJolly
THE ENGAGEMENT After dating for over a year and a half, Nate knew it was time to lock Karen in long-term. She was beginning to make ring hints and he wanted to be sure to surprise her by letting her know in the biggest way possible that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. One winter afternoon, Nate asked Karen to go to a mixology class put on by a friend of a friend downtown before meeting up with softball friends later in the evening. Karen is all in on the idea as she loves the idea of afternoon cocktails. Nate tells her we have to meet his friend at a parking garage downtown and he’ll walk us over to the class. Well at the parking garage, his friend is no where to be found, but there is a gentleman who is looking for Nate who asks Nate and Karen if they’ve ever been on a helicopter and to head up the elevator with him. Karen being a trooper goes along with it as Nate tries to play it cool. Before long, they are whisked away in a helicopter tour high above the Portland skyline where Nate popped the question (staged photo later on the ground). So excited, they come back to earth to celebrate with friends... but sadly no mixology class.
