we're getting married

Adam and I met 5 years ago in Brooklyn, where we lived two blocks away and shared the same love for Bagel Pub and the deli next door. On our first date, he swept me off my feet after a long conversation about a book we were both reading. On our second date, he casually offered to take me to dinner on his Suzuki GS550 motorcycle and those were pretty much my only two check boxes for 100% stud I wanted to date. We continued to spend time together as warm summer days reading in Prospect Park turned into cozy coffee shop trips in the winter. I started taking him to Broadway shows and the Opera and we fell in love with theater as we fell in love with each other. Three years ago we moved to East Harlem and adopted our Bo, a sweet and frisbee loving pitbull. The two of us are natural introverts and as such have ended up spending entirely way too much time together, especially now that we have Bo as an excuse. In all this time, we've shared jokes that brought me to tears and tearing fights that end in joking laughter. I've learned that a relationship is complicated and requires both people to give every ounce of empathy, understanding, patience and love they've got, because that's exactly how much it takes. I feel so grateful for finding Adam, an introspective thinker and intuitive natural learner, who enriches my life with all of his varying interests, constant movie recommendations, mutual love of Bo and praises for my cooking.
