Our Story

Trevor and I met in sixth grade when I started at Byron Middle School. Fast forward to high school when we became friends, mostly our senior year, we had a few classes together. He sat next to me and Lauren in math and kept us entertained. We ended up going to Georgia Southwestern State University together. There were four of us that attended there from our graduating class at PCHS, so we stuck together and made friends with a lot of the same people and groups. We continued our friendship over the next few years after Trevor left GSW and I graduated. Once I moved back home we reconnected towards the end of 2019. I offered that we should hang out and catch up. Trevor agreed. Lauren and I just so happened to be going to dinner that night so, I invited him to come along. After that night we texted for awhile and then lost touch again (my fault). A few months later we started talking again and Trevor asked me to eat dinner with him. I had plans already for dinner, so we decided on lunch. I didn’t really think too much about it, so when my plans changed and I ended up having him meet another friend and I at Olive Garden and he showed up in a nice shirt and pants and I was wearing leggings and a sweatshirt, I was a little suspicious. When the waitress asked about our checks I started to say it was separate and he asked if he could pay for my food. But because he didn’t pay for my friend’s, I knew he had considered it more of a date. So naturally, those of you that know me, know that my anxiety and I were not about it. I “ghosted” him yet again. We didn’t start talking again until the summer of 2021. He kept asking me to spend some time with him. Naturally, I “ghosted” this man yet again. I know I know, many of you are probably thinking, “wow, I can’t believe he’s still coming around.” Well same, so I decided to finally give him a chance. I told him I would meet him for dinner. We went on our first official date (that I was aware of) on October 1, 2021. I went home that night and I told my mom this felt different and it would move fast. And it has, we’ve been together ever since! The Proposal: We had been talking about buying a shed and converting it to a house on my family’s farm for months. Finally, one day in May when he called me and brought it up again, I told him I didn’t want to talk about building a house together because we weren’t even engaged. He paused and said he needed to get his hair cut and shave his beard first. I laughed and moved on. Around a week or so later he came over to my house and he had gotten his hair cut and shaved his beard. I again laughed and made a joke about it. Two days later, on May 18th my mom called me on my way home from work, she sounded funny and I just knew. I called Trevor and he said he was at my house and wanted to measure out the land on the farm where we want to build the house. We drove out there and after we measured and put out all the stakes he asked, “what if a tree fell?” So, I turned to walk further into the field to measure away from the tree line. I felt a poke on my back and turned around to tell him to quit messing with me and of course he was on one knee. I felt it coming but was still shocked. I thought he was kidding and asked him what he was doing because it kinda looked like he was holding a measuring tape but then he opened the box and there was my grandma’s ring! Obviously, I said yes and here we are today! Fall is my favorite season and if you know me, I’m kinda quirky, so 11-12-22 just rolls off the tongue! We can’t wait to celebrate with you. Love, JoLee and Trevor
