Question

Are there any vehicles on Mackinac Island?

Answer

NO! That's what makes the Island so unique. The only method of transportation is by bike or horse and buggy.

How far is the dock to Mission Point?

Answer

It's roughly a fifteen minute (relatively flat) walk to the resort. Not able to walk - no problem. Carriages can be reserved prior to your arrival; contact Carriage Tours (906-847-3323) prior to departing from the mainland to the Island in-order to reserve your taxi. Taxis can not be hailed from the street side.

How do I get my luggage from the dock to our hotel?

Answer

On the mainland the dock porters will tag your baggage to be delivered to your respective hotel. The ferry will transport your luggage free of charge to the Island. Once you are on the Island, if you are staying at Mission Point Resort, the hotel porters will take any "checked" luggage directly to the resort for a minimal fee (fee is applied to your room reservation). If you have other accommodations on the Island, you will need to claim your luggage at the top of the island dock. Upon your return to the mainland, all luggage is sent to the mainland where it will be waiting for you in a secured area for when you come off the Island.

Will the ceremony be outdoors rain or shine?

Answer

NO! The resort has indoor accommodations in the unlikely (.. staying optimistic here!) event the weather is less than favorable.

What will the weather be like in early September?

Answer

We have our fingers and toes crossed for a gorgeous late summer day in the mid-60's... but, it is Northern Michigan after-all. We'll be closely monitoring the weather as the day approaches.
