How We Met

"This One Time At Band Camp"

Josh and Nikita met at Campbell University during both of their undergraduate years. They ultimately met while they both played for the university pep band, Josh played the trombone and Nikita the alto saxophone. As their friendship grew stronger so did their like of one another. Josh finally asked Nikita to go on a date with him and the rest is history. They both ended up graduating with their Masters in Public Health at Campbell University as well.

How Josh Proposed

Josh and Nikita are big Carolina Panthers fans. So as a gift for graduating from her master’s program back in May 2018, Josh got Nikita Carolina Panthers tickets that were 8 rows up from the field. So it was already going to be a pretty exciting day! They decided to spend the whole weekend in Charlotte just for fun leading up to the game. They took the train from Raleigh to Charlotte and spent the weekend going out to Topgolf, the movies, bowling with friends, and of course eating at places they’ve never been before! Finally, the big day arrived where they were at their seats with an incredible view of the game and Nikita noticed that halfway through the first quarter Josh wasn’t paying attention to the game so Nikita asked, “what are you looking at? The game is over here” (pointing to the field). Josh told her to look behind her and SirPurr (the mascot) was right behind them with a “Congratulations Nikita” sign in hand. Nikita was so confused. They asked to take some pictures and then when Nikita turned back around Josh was on one knee and she couldn’t move. Tears were falling down her face and everyone around them was cheering and taking pictures. He told her how much he loved her and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her! Nikita barely waited for him to ask and already said yes! Next thing Nikita knows SirPurr is holding a sign saying “She said yes!” But that was not the last surprise. When Nikita went to FaceTime her mom, Josh said: “why don’t you just go see them, they’re right over there!” Of course, her whole family as well as his parents were at the game in the Bojangles Box seats! We may not have won the game, but Nikita and Josh sure did win big!!
