Andrea loves flowers and Joshua loves puns. We look forward to a really fun and beautiful day with every single one of you. You mean a lot to each of us and we would love to invite you to come and witness a very special moment in our lives.
It started with carpooling to prayer meets, study groups and one church conference night.. a young woman's prayer got answered. Joshua was oblivious but he sure got her attention. She kept it in her heart, shared to less than a handful of really supportive girlfriends and had asked God about him. She told God to let His will be done for Joshua's life and then they see God's handprint everywhere on their journey to becoming one. Joshua soon fell in love with her. Still not knowing her feelings for him, he asked her out for breakfast... cheap but oh so heartwarming bowl of congee at Melbourne University. God was so cheeky and there was only ONE BOWL OF CONGEE LEFT! So we happily shared the bowl of congee. Things started gaining some traction between us and we started texting each other daily. A few weeks later, he asked her out on a second date and he chose Japanese ramen for dinner, great choice! As we sat down for dinner, he was straight forward and had an agenda. First thing he asked was "So, what do you think about relationship?" Fast forward two years... here we are about to say "I do.."
We started dating straight after university. Barely any income and being away from home, we learned how to live and appreciate in the little. We walked kilometres to get to each other's homes just so we could avoid paying for expensive public transport fees, we cooked our meals in bulk and I MEAN BULK, and we couldn't afford any fancy dates. But we loved it - cuddles, walks and bargains are our thing. Yet God has blessed us so abundantly since then. Now we have a car to do late night Kmart runs and weekend road trips. Now we can afford more fancy meals for our dates. Now we have more variety in our weekly dishes. (Andrea LOVES Sashimi!) Now we fund our little terrarium venture. We thank God we get to love each other in the little and in the more. To greater days ahead.
We had planned for a road trip on good Friday. She has no idea that Josh has been planning the proposal for weeks! He secretly got her friends to help him out with the planning and the amazing miracle is, NOBODY SPILLED THE SECRET PROPOSAL! So that morning we drove down to Marysville and headed to Steavensons Falls. Our friends were already there, hiding in the bushes and waiting to surprise us. When we reached, we walked down to the viewing platform on the bottom of the waterfall. It was crowded when we got there. He prayed for the people to clear away and the crowd cleared! Then it were just the two of us. He set up his DSLR on the bench to take a photo of both of us. Instead of setting it on timer, he set it on the video mode. As we stood there posing to the camera, she wondered when the camera was gonna take the photo and she asked: "when is it?" and he said "the time is now." and he got down on one knee. He took out the ring from his pocket.. J: "I love you so much. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" A: "Yes." He put the ring on her hand and it was done!
