Despite a downright bad first date on which Ken came down with a stomach virus, Katie and Ken quickly fell in love with their mutual love of food, corny jokes, and trivia knowledge. By the time they visited Ken's family in Twentynine Palms after 4 months of dating, they both knew this was it.

It was the day before Easter in sunny Twentynine Palms, California. Ken took Katie to lunch at a local oasis and then took Katie (and Cameron) to walk around the oasis on the property. When he got down on one knee and proposed, Katie was so surprised that she nearly let Cameron slip from her arms, and Ken dropped the ring in the dirt. There are pictures to prove it!
