The Bahamas Museum of Junkanoo is as vibrant, exciting, participatory and creative as the Junkanoo parade itself! Visitors are invited to explore the more than 300 year journey of a festival that started in West Africa and found a new home, here in The Bahamas. A festival that has evolved from a private defiance of the dehumanizing effects of slavery, to a universal expression of community, exhilaration and renewal. This is different than Carnival :) Fun fact about the couple, Jamielle used to "rush" for the One Family Junkanoo group back in the day! David is a long-standing Valley Boys fan. This couple LOVES Junkanoo!

The Bahamas is an archipelago made up of about 700 islands and over 2,400 cays (small islands or islets). Of these, around 30 islands are inhabited. Some of the most well-known inhabited islands include: Nassau, New Providence (the capital - both David & Jamielle are from here) Grand Bahama Abaco Islands Eleuthera Exuma Islands Andros Island These inhabited islands are home to the majority of the country's population. New Providence is 21 miles long and 7 miles wide. With all of that said, if you can find time to take a tour around Nassau with a local taxi driver to learn more about the Bahamas, we highly recommend! Remember cash is the best method of payment for local taxi drivers.
