Jordan and I met last spring when leaving our separate church small groups that both happened to meet in the same apartment building. I forced him to join the conversation I was having with our mutual friend (s/o Elliott Frey) by blocking the gate to leave. After realizing he physically could not get out, I quickly apologized and moved aside. I was thinking, "that guy definitely thinks I'm a major weirdo." He was thinking, "maybe I should go on a date with her." A few nights later we were at Juniper Moon, a cocktail lounge in Des Moines, already planning for our second date. This was the night before I graduated from PA school and I am still totally and utterly floored by God's perfect timing. We jumped right in and never looked back. He established a place in my life, and more importantly, my heart very quickly. He became my very best friend and the love of my life. There was no doubt I wanted to marry him. Fast forward to January 12, 2020. In the same place where he got my number from that mutual friend by the gate the night we met, where we had our first date and then had numerous more, he asked me to be his wife! It was the very best day -- made even better by all the friends and family who came flowing in shortly after to celebrate with us! Our greatest desire for September 12, 2020 is that it would be a day that magnifies the love we have for one another, but most importantly magnifies the love our Lord has for us. We believe the mystery of marriage is a beautiful picture of Christ's love for the church and are beyond thankful that God has called us into that. We look forward to spending the rest of our lives pursuing the Lord together.
