It was a cold January night. The year was 2017. Lindsey had just gotten back from several weeks away in London and Italy. She was a bit exhausted and wanted something mindless to do to pass the time. She decided to open up the Tinder application on her phone... 5.1 miles away, Mike was sitting on a big brown couch in his living room. He had just finished a long day at work so naturally, it was time to hop on Tinder to see if the love of his life could be stealthily hiding among the ocean of "interesting people" one can find on the internet... "It's a match!", said Tinder. "He's cute!", said Lindsey. "Lucky me!", said Mike. Mike artfully crafted his sentences to woo what he for sure thought would be a great match. Lindsey threw caution to the wind and insisted on talking about her most favorite thing of all - cats.
Mike picked Barrelhouse Flat, a classic first date spot. He got there only a few minutes before Lindsey arrived and awkwardly stood by the door. In she came, and much to Mike's dismay, she was not as cute as he had hoped. But alas, it wasn't Lindsey! Just someone who arrived at the same time that vaguely looked like her. That. Was. Close. Moments later, in she came, looking as beautiful as ever. Being a cocktail enthusiast, Lindsey was excited about having a few delicious drinks. Going into the date, she was cautiously optimistic that it would go well. However, there was one problem: she didn't really know what Mike looked like. You see, Mike somehow managed to pick dating profile pictures where he looked different in every single photo. Luckily, the version of Mike that showed up was the best of all. And, fortunately for Mike, he no longer has to worry about curating pictures of himself. The date itself went great, because why wouldn't it? Lindsey and Mike effectively closed down the bar, and even kissed when the night was over. Lindsey will say that she initiated the first kiss. Mike will say that things were "hazy" and that he definitely maybe initiated the kiss perhaps.
Lindsey and Mike have spent the last three years together and have experienced so much as a couple. From visits to Lindsey's family in Minnesota, to trips that have taken them to both east and west coasts, along with 8 different countries around the world. While they clearly both love to travel, Lindsey and Mike agree that not much can beat a night in Chicago trying out a new restaurant, or a day at home with nothing to do. While there's so much more to share about how this relationship has grown, you've probably already played a part and even know a story or two. And now we're excited to share in one of the biggest memories of all!
