It all started in 2012, when we were introduced by a mutual friend at Janyo frozen yogurt. Justin swears he knew he wanted to marry me the first time he met me.... but I beg to differ. A few months later we went on our first date. Apparently, I made Justin try really hard for 2 years, until I said yes to a second date in August of 2014. For anyone wondering, I made the first move and kissed him first because he "had a cold". Finally, on a cool October evening, in the Starbucks parking lot, Justin asked me to be his girlfriend.
As a nice continuation of the story above, I (Alex) for the last 6 years have tried to persuade Justin to propose. In his words, "it is payback for making me wait so long to start dating". Finally after 6 years, two dogs, two times being long distance, and buying our first house- Justin decided it was time to pop the question! It was a run of the mill Thursday night after Justin had been gone all summer on strike teams. We were cleaning the kitchen and decided to exchange anniversary gifts. Justin made me sit on the couch and told me to close my eyes; which, in Alex fashion, I did not want to do. He went to the garage and pretended like he was getting something, banging around in the kitchen, and telling me “its so big and heavy, keep your eyes closed”. After ensuring my eyes were closed, he came and sat next to me on the couch and said open your eyes. The ring box was there and he said, “I didn’t want to wait six whole years to ask, will you marry me?” To which I said, “so you waited 5 years 363 days!? Seriously!". Spoiler Alert- for those of you who do not know, I unknowingly drove around with the ring in my car, behind my seat for several weeks.
