Our Story

Worth the Wait

We first knew of each other back in 2010 through Worship Workshops at The Father's House in Vacaville, California! We didn't really get to know each other until 2014 when Johnny started coming out to the East Bay campus to lead worship. Over the next couple of years, our friendship grew. During that time, there was mutual interest, but we both individually took time to pray about it before acting on it... a LOT of time. In December of 2019, Johnny asked me out for the first time. We went to dinner and I explained that while I liked Johnny a lot, I wanted to finish grad school first and felt like God was asking me to wait. So, we continued our friendship and only kept getting closer. Finally, in March of 2020, Johnny led us into a conversation about taking time apart to decide if we wanted to move forward as friends or as a couple. After that, we stopped talking the day before the first Covid quarantine. The next few days were rough, but we figured some things out! Five days later, I FaceTimed Johnny, (remember, we were quarantining), with the intention of telling him that I loved him but needed space to figure out if this was what I wanted to pursue. I called, he answered, and I told him I loved him. He immediately got in the car and drove to where I was. Unbeknownst to me, Johnny had been at the store the day after quarantine started, and God told him to buy me roses and he left them in the trunk of his car, not expecting to actually get to give them to me. So, when he drove over, he had roses for me and told me he loved me too. From that point, we felt that we had peace from God to move forward, so we decided that we would start dating the day I finished grad school, July 29th, 2020. The time spent getting to know each other prior to dating created a deeply-rooted connection between us that sustained us through the waiting. Now, we are even more in love with each other and are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together!
