We met in 2015, our freshman year, at Southern University and A&M College (SU) via a mutual friend. Johnny was an athlete on the Track & Field team and I was on the softball team. After leaving SU in 2016 to return back home to Michigan, I would take annual trips to Baton Rouge to hang with friends. Ironically on every trip, Johnny and I would run into each other and always catch up. On my 2019 trip to Baton Rouge, Johnny and I decided to finally go on a date and the rest is history!

Whewwwww.... what a day! As we all know, Johnny had to work EXTREMELY hard to keep things a secret from me. Johnny was super sick the days leading up to, causing his original plans to be derailed. However, like a champ, he still made it happen!! We spent the day hiking at Tunica Hills, reflecting on our relationship and future goals (little did I know he was proposing later). Afterwards, we spent time with family and eventually went downtown to the levee to the exact spot we had our first date. Through conversation, he quizzed me on things from our first date to see if I remembered while simultaneously getting down on one knee to propose. I was in disbelief and froze up initially. But once the tears started flowing, I said YES!!
