He used to be a customer at my family's restaurant and would come in every once in a while to have dinner with his father. At the time I waitressed and was very unavailable. Still, he caught my attention and I was intrigued. Apparently it was mutual. We eventually crossed paths online and recognized one another from the restaurant. He reached out and 2 days later we had our first date. From then on we became inseparable. Every once in a while you get a little glimpse of your future. Sometimes you pray for something and you think God isn't listening. When the time is right, you get exactly what you need when you least expect it. The time wasn't right but the first time we met, was when we got a glimpse. We just didn't realize we were looking at our future.
After a very long trip we finally arrived in Sicily. The first night we visited my hometown, Torretta, where we met family and old friends, and had dinner with my father, who was also visiting. This was the perfect opportunity for him to discreetly have the "talk". While our trip started out perfectly, things changed quickly. I developed a very high fever and got so ill, I was bed ridden for most of our time there. We were deprived days of sightseeing, nights of dancing, and adventures we so looked forward to. After 5 days of being on antibiotics, I started to feel better. We got out of the villa and drove to Palermo, where we planned to spend the day - where he had something else up his sleeve. When evening came, we walked past Teatro Massimo, an opera house and famous landmark in Sicily. "Coincidently" our friend from town was there. John wanted him to take some pictures of us in front of the theater, but a show had just ended and the area flooded with people - impossible to get a nice picture. (We know by now that things don't ever go as planned) He insisted we wait until the crowds cleared up. He wasn't going to miss his chance. We finally got the opportunity to pose for some pictures, just as he got down on one knee and proposed. Our imperfectly perfect moment. People clapped and cheered in excitement. Before I could say yes, he put the ring on my finger! After everything, there's no going back! We're in this together, forever.
