Megan and John Henry first met in August 2022 on the flag football field, playing for Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine intramural team during their very first semester. Before John Henry knew her name, Megan was already telling her girlfriends that he was her future husband. Their connection then began as teammates and friends but afer winter break, everything changed. John Henry asked Megan out, and their first official date was a true Auburn classic: an Auburn basketball game. What could have been a simple evening quickly became unforgettable when his car was towed after the game. Instead of letting it ruin the night, they laughed their way through it, turning an inconvenience into their first cherished story together. Megan’s beloved cat, Margo, was far less enthusiastic. Megan had recently adopted a kitten named Boone, and within weeks, Margo made her displeasure very clear. After three emergency vet visits and mounting bills, it became obvious that Boone—and this new guy—were a bit much for her. Megan’s parents came to Auburn to take Margo home for a break, and over tacos at Taco Mama’s, they met John Henry for the first time. While Megan stepped away from the table, John Henry leaned in and said, “I really like your daughter,” a simple, sincere moment that instantly won them over. As semesters passed, Megan and John Henry’s bond only grew stronger. They supported each other through the hard days of vet school, celebrated every win, and built a partnership grounded in resilience, ambition, and genuine love. By their third year, John Henry was ready for the next step. On February 22, after their white coat ceremony (a milestone marking their transition into clinical practice), he led Megan into the greenhouse at Botanic, where their families and closest friends were waiting. Surrounded by soft light and lush greenery, he knelt down and asked her to spend forever with him. The greenhouse became more than just the site of a proposal, it became part of their story. So when it came time to choose a wedding venue, the decision was effortless: they would return to the very place where forever began, their love story becoming a true Auburn classic.
