New York, NY

This is how we met

It was a breezy Saturday afternoon when John’s friend, Marcus, convinced him to attend a community art exhibit downtown in Montego Bay. John wasn’t particularly into art, but Marcus had been persistent. “You need to get out more,” Marcus had said. “I heard there’s a photographer from Montego Bay, Jamaica, showcasing some of their work. You might find it interesting.” As John wandered through the gallery, his attention shifted from the paintings to the soft melody of a guitar coming from the courtyard. Drawn to the sound, he made his way outside, where people sat on scattered chairs and blankets, listening to a woman sing. That’s when he saw her—Yetty. Yetty wasn’t performing, but she stood near the stage, camera in hand, capturing the scene with an intensity that made her seem part of the art itself. Her curls framed her face, and her vibrant yellow sundress seemed to glow under the afternoon sun. John was captivated. Marcus nudged him. “That’s Yetty,” he whispered. “She’s the photographer from Montego Bay I mentioned. She’s incredible with weddings too.” “I don’t even know what to say,” John replied, feeling uncharacteristically shy. “Say hi,” Marcus said, giving him a gentle push. John hesitated but approached her just as she lowered her camera. “Hi,” he began, awkwardly but earnestly. “I couldn’t help but notice you—uh, your photography, I mean. Are you part of the exhibit?” Yetty turned, surprised, but she smiled warmly. “Not officially,” she said. “I’m actually a wedding photographer here in Montego Bay, Jamaica, but I love capturing moments like this. The music, the people—it’s all so alive, you know?” John nodded, grateful she hadn’t dismissed him outright. “I get that. There’s something about today that feels… different. Like it’s a good day for new beginnings.” They talked for a while, about photography, music, and how Yetty had recently expanded her business in Montego Bay to include more destination weddings. She shared her passion for telling love stories through her lens, and John found himself drawn to her energy and sincerity. As the sun began to set, Marcus appeared again, grinning knowingly. “So, are you going to ask for her number, or should I do it for you?” he teased. John rolled his eyes but turned to Yetty, his heart pounding. “Would you like to grab coffee sometime? Or… I don’t know, maybe another art exhibit?” Yetty smiled, her eyes sparkling. “I’d like that,” she said, taking his phone and entering her number. As she walked away, camera slung over her shoulder, John couldn’t help but feel like the breezy Saturday afternoon had just changed his life. Marcus clapped him on the back. “Told you it was a good day to get out.” From that moment, John and Yetty’s story began, filled with the art of connection, the beauty of Montego Bay, and the shared passions that turned a chance meeting into something extraordinary. www.imgweddings.com
