A short Uber or Lyft ride from Hotel MDR, a large restaurant/bar nestled on the edge of the Marina. Killer Shrimp is split into 3 different businesses: Killer Shrimp The Diner, Killer Sushi The Restaurant, and Killer Yacht Club The Speakeasy. A great place for a bite to eat or a nice cocktail.
Settled on the edge of the beach in Playa Del Rey, Playa Provisions is the perfect spot to grab a latte, eat some food, or have a drink. And once you're done, go out and explore Playa Del Rey. Easily one of our favorite places in LA.
Playa Del Rey is just South of Marina Del Rey. It's a great little beach community with small-town charm and rolling views of the ocean. Parking is scarce, so uber/lyft is probably your best bet.
Walk along the boardwalk, stick your toes in the sand, or step into one of the many restaurants/pubs in the area. Venice Beach is a short Uber or Lyft ride from Hotel MDR. If you'd like to drive, parking exists but it may take a moment to find. (Parking note: Remember to read parking signs clearly.)
NOTE: This one's for the vegans and the folks who like to try something new. Double Zero has probably the best vegan pizza on the Westside. A great place to order some za, a calzone, or maybe a nice caesar salad. Wash it all down with some local craft beer or wine.
The dive bar that's been putting food on John's table for the last decade. Cheap drinks (for LA standards), good service, and a colorful cast of characters.
Culver City is another one of our favorites. Famous for its movie studios (Sony and Amazon), Culver City has no shortage of activities, including many bars and restaurants. Culver City is where Tina and I feel most at home in this city. Hopefully, you will too!
After a 15-minute Lyft or Uber ride from Hotel MDR, you'll be able to enjoy (hopefully) Sunny Santa Monica. Browse the shops and restaurants of the 3rd street promenade and the surrounding areas, or walk on over to the world-famous Santa Monica pier! (Note: This is a very heavy tourist area, so expect crowds)
Storied music club presenting blues, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, spoken word, burlesque & more since 1931. Just off of the 3rd Street Promenade, pop in for a drink and some tunes at Harvelle's, you can't go wrong!

Another free museum at the base of UCLA's campus in Westwood. Westwood is another great area to walk around and explore (however, this is one of the most congested areas in the city, so driver beware).
Looking for some local craft beer? Well, then this is the place for you. There are many breweries in the Los Angeles area, but Three Weavers is definitely one of our favorites.
The LACMA is widely considered the best museum in Los Angeles. Check out LACMA.org for pricing information.
Check out the newly renovated Academy Awards museum. I myself haven't been, but I've heard wonderful things! You may need to book this one in advance as it is very popular.
If you're interested in a studio tour, Paramount Pictures is certainly one of the best. This is another thing you may want to book in advance. Find out more @ https://www.paramountstudiotour.com/studio-tours.html
The Grove is like an outdoor mall on steroids! A great place to walk around and people-watch. And don't forget to check out the Farmer's Market located on the Western end, it's been there forever and you can find every type of food imaginable. Great for foodies!
An iconic restaurant in the heart of Hollywood. Musso and Franks is a staple of Southern California. Get reservations in advance at: https://mussoandfrank.com/reservations/
Take a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard, it's a bustling snakepit in the belly of obscurity! (NOTE: Reader beware, while Hollywood Boulevard can be very fun, for some, it is too much. It is one of the more tourist-attended places in the city, but nevertheless, some adventurous souls may still want to take a walk on the wild side... I certainly wouldn't blame you.)
