During the aftermath of COVID, dating was dead and no one would socialize at the bars. We had little hope, until we discovered the power of Hinge, the dating app. Luckily for John, Sierra was tired of the Silverdale dating pool and expanded her search range all the way to Seattle. Unfortunately for the both of them, that was one hell of a commute for dates. We took turns alternating driving around the Sound or taking the ferries across, until one day Sierra decided to switch careers, landing her in Kirkland. 30 minutes across highway 520 was a breeze, and we turned weekend dates into regular after-work dinners until 2 years later we became roommates. The internet connected us, but our blooming love kept us together.
Let me tell you... Italy was great, something must have been in the wine because Sierra came back with a ring on her finger. We spent 2 weeks exploring Europe, including a few nights at Lake Garda, Italy. One of those days we rode a cable car up to the top of Mount Baldo, where we had great panoramic views of the mountains and of Lake Garda. John found a random German couple and asked the guy to take a video. Both he and Sierra were very confused why a video, but luckily the German dude was a good sport and hit play. Shortly after Sierra was 100% surprised when John proposed to her; she had no idea he was carrying her great grandma's ring with him for the majority of their vacation. The bottle of Bardolino wine and the lake view that night was the highlight of the trip.
