Although Morgan and John both graduated from JMU, their paths didn’t cross until 2018, when they began working together in Richmond. John started as a Consultant with Winvale in 2017 after graduating and Morgan came on board full time in May 2018 after graduating a year later. Funny enough, they had actually met a year earlier when Morgan was an intern for the company in summer 2017. Their first interaction in summer 2017 was brief but had a lasting impact on Morgan. She just couldn’t stop thinking about how dreamy John’s eyes were or how big his biceps looked (at least, that’s what he tells himself). When they became full time coworkers, Morgan told her friends that work had “no cute guys”. Meanwhile, John told his friends the opposite about her. They became friends through going to lunch together, bonding over the daily struggles of work, and sharing their memories of college. Over time, the two started talking more frequently and John finally mustered up the courage to ask her out on what neither of them actually called a “date” until it happened. The first date was a day at the Petersburg Wine and Hops Festival, where they drank wine, talked to other couples that assumed they were already an “item”, and came to the realization that they both liked each other a lot more than just as coworkers or friends. The first date turned into a second, which was a concert to see Old Dominion, and that turned into a third date at Graves Mountain where they picked apples and pumpkins together. The day after their third date, Morgan floated out to her friends that she was hanging out with “potential boyfriend material.” John found out and seized the opportunity to turn “potential” into “actual” and it was the best decision that he’s made. Throwing aside any conventional wisdom to not date your coworkers, they jumped headfirst into a relationship that developed fast. Just like that old saying “when you know, you just know”, they both knew pretty early on that they had found their person. Both of their families instantly approved of the new relationship after meeting for the first time and since then, their love has grown exponentially with every new day and experience together. Over the next few years, their love has followed them through hard times and good times. Through events like moving in together, getting a dog, navigating Morgan switching jobs, eating snails together for the first time on their engagement day, and so many more milestones, they’ve created a special life together as best friends and they can’t wait to celebrate their marriage with you all!
