Things To Do

The Wedding Website of John Hanna and Melissa Alves
It is an honor and privilege to share our special weekend with all of you. We understand that many of you have come from a great distance to celebrate with us and may have never experienced everything San Diego has to offer. See below for activity recommendations to take part in if you are looking to fill some time in sunny SD!
Balboa Park

Balboa Park

Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101

Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre historic urban cultural park in San Diego, California. Placed in reserve in 1835, the park's site is one of the oldest in the United States dedicated to public recreational use. Enjoy a walk among the gardens, explore one of the many museums (our favorite is the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center), or grab a bite to eat in one of the many cafe's located inside. A must visit if it is your first time in SD!

Mission Bay

Mission Bay

Mission Bay, San Diego, CA 92101

A local favorite for expansive walking/bike paths, calm water, and free picnic tables. Enjoy a BBQ by the sea, rent bicycles and explore the bay, or rent a kayak and enjoy the calm waters of the bay during the day. The options are endless here

SeaWorld San Diego

500 Sea World Drive, San Diego, CA 92109

Ongoing promotion for up to 70% off tickets as summer comes to a close

San Diego Zoo

2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

Internationally recognized as the best zoo in the USA, a must see oncve in your lifetime. The exhibits are awesome.

Del Mar Beach & Marina

Del Mar Beach & Marina

15th Street, Del Mar, CA 92014

Bring your bathing suit! If you are looking for a beach option, John's hometown beach, Del Mar is a must-see. Powerhouse and Seagrove park at 15th street has free picnic tables, a shower, and a playground for the kiddos. Other beaches we would recommend are La Jolla Shores and Windandsea (close to wedding venue), Torrey Pines State beach, Pacific beach, Ocean beach, and Mission beach. Keep in mind the majority of available parking is street-parking and one must adhere to local rules and regulations or you will get towed.

Gaslamp Quarter - The Historic Heart Of San Diego

Gaslamp Quarter - The Historic Heart Of San Diego

614 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

The Gaslamp Quarter is the heart and soul of downtown San Diego. With activities for any occasion, the Gaslamp is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner, bar hopping, or even simply dining out with the family. With a plethora of restaurants to pick from, from quick bites to fine dining, there are endless ways to satisfy your taste no matter what you are looking for. Pro tip-go at night to enjoy the picturesque Gaslamps while lit.
