Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre historic urban cultural park in San Diego, California. Placed in reserve in 1835, the park's site is one of the oldest in the United States dedicated to public recreational use. Enjoy a walk among the gardens, explore one of the many museums (our favorite is the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center), or grab a bite to eat in one of the many cafe's located inside. A must visit if it is your first time in SD!

Bring your bathing suit! If you are looking for a beach option, John's hometown beach, Del Mar is a must-see. Powerhouse and Seagrove park at 15th street has free picnic tables, a shower, and a playground for the kiddos. Other beaches we would recommend are La Jolla Shores and Windandsea (close to wedding venue), Torrey Pines State beach, Pacific beach, Ocean beach, and Mission beach. Keep in mind the majority of available parking is street-parking and one must adhere to local rules and regulations or you will get towed.
