In 2016, Marki left Tennessee and moved to Denver where she made friends that used to live in Chicago. Never having been to the city, she tagged along for a music festival and was introduced to John. An instant connection was made and thus began their slow burn love story. Over the years, they maintained a flirty friendship until John asked Marki if he could stop and see her while he was passing through Denver on his way to a wedding back in Chicago (he was living in Los Angeles). It'd been over 4 years since they had seen each other, and they spent the entire night talking and laughing, finally the first date distance prevented them from having.
