John and I started dating 12 years ago, during my senior year of high school. We moved to Lawrence, KS following high school, where we went to college for a few years, saw lots of bluegrass music and made a lot of the friends we still have today! This is when we knew we had a shared interest in music and where our love for going to concerts and seeing live music began. In 2011 we moved to California, living in 3 different small cities, from the valley, to the foothills of the Sierras, up the mountain, and finally settled together in Mountain Ranch, CA for 4 years. We lived simply, enjoyed organic farming and set roots in Calaveras County. We had a home base but we also spent a lot of time traveling. We traveled to see beautiful places, and many National Parks. We enjoyed camping and going to music festivals and touring with different side projects of the Grateful Dead! These shows became a place to gather, sing and dance and see people from all over the country. In 2018 we moved back to Kansas City, to be close to family, but decided to keep, and slowly develop our land in California. November of 2019, John asked me to marry him on the beach in Bonaire, while were on vacation with my parents! I said, "Yes", and we started planning. March of 2020 we found out I was pregnant with a boy and the following October, our son John Thomas was born. I hope JT is walking by the time we see you all in November! A few weeks later Covid hit and quarantine began. With the birth of our son coming and Covid, we decided to postpone things. The following August we had a simple ceremony at Unity Temple in KCMO, with our parents. John and I were married and I took his last name on August 24, 2020. This event will be a reception to celebrate our marriage with all of you! - Margaret
