John and Maia met September of 2018 at a Bayside Midtown Young Professional's Bible Study. Here's how Maia describes it: We met at a bible study for young professionals. I had just moved to the area about a month ago and my mom recommended I check out Bayside. The first bible study meet up was so large that we split into two and John started leading the one for new members. My first impression of John was "who does this guy think he is leading the bible study?". However, I quickly came to see how this heart for God and vast knowledge made him the perfect fit. We started dating about two months into the bible study after John was supposed to walk me to my car one night, but got caught up talking to another member. He messaged me later that night to make sure I got to my car okay and we have talked everyday since. I thank God for that day, and the man he has blessed me with. He continues to motivate, love and support me and I cannot wait to marry him. Here's how John describes it: I don't know how Maia describes it but as far as I know, the second Maia saw me she could not take her eyes off me. Right from the get-go she thought I was the best Bible study leader. She made the first move trying to hit on me... Alright just kidding. In the fall of 2018, I had finally decided to lead a Bible study, something I had been feeling God calling me to for a long time. The minute I saw Maia I could not believe how beautiful she was. After a couple of months, we began to talk romantically and have been together ever since. This amazing woman of God has inspired me and supported me. And she strengthens my faith every day.
