We're Getting Married!

If you know John and I you know we have some pretty nerdy hobbies. I met john when he was working as a sales consultant buying and selling Magic the Gathering cards at a local collectibles shop. I was unemployed and in between terms in school, so I had a lot of time on my hands. I chose to spend a majority of it at John's former employers, where we apparently both admired each other from afar. It turned out we had friends that knew each other and schemed to introduce us at a party one night. (Thanks Lydia!) We kicked it off right away and the rest is history!

John and I have been through a few living situations and a few jobs each since we first began dating. After dating for around a year, we spent a few months living off of Sandy Blvd in Portland with roommates. Then we spent three years living in an apartment in Happy Valley, OR. Now we live, along with our amazing dog Hugo, in a one-bedroom house in southeast Portland. I work as a Pharmacy Technician while finishing school to be a Physician Assistant, and John partners with his dad Wayne to run MudPuppy Drywall.

John picked me up late from the airport after a family trip to Mexico, and when we got home John made me wait outside our apartment, I was jet-lagged and sunburnt and just wanted to go to bed, but I forgot all that when he finally opened the door. Our apartment was decorated with flowers, balloons and candles. Our Chalk board was covered in sweet messages and as I took it all in I finally noticed John down on one knee. He said being away from me for my trip made him realize he never wanted to let me go. I said yes right away and we sealed the deal with a family heirloom ring.
