Michigan Central is a historic train station that is no longer in use and has been recently renovated to match its original condition. Entry is free, and it is a beautiful and fascinating place to explore! There are guided tours available to book, which we have been on and really enjoyed. We'd reccommend booking early if you want to go one, as they are limited and fill up fast!
Belle isle is a beautiful park with lots of things to do. We especially enjoy the conservatory. There is a paid entry option for a day pass, but we also really like parking on the other side of the Detroit River and walking across the bridge to the island.
A fun park and public square to explore centrally located in Downtown Detroit
Detroit has a great pedestrian area where you can walk along a long stretch of the river that connects various parks and other areas.
A fun way to explore Detroit's auto history - there are many historic cars on display. There is also a restaurant on the 71st floor with an incredible view. You can typically stop in for a drink even without a reservation!
We love walking around the alleys, which are unique pedestrian areas, in downtown Detroit. This is one of two of these.
Another of the alley areas we enjoy exploring. This one has some great shops.
A great farmer's market that takes place on Saturdays and Tuesdays!
This is one of our favorite brunch restaurants, but it's also great for dinner! It is right next to Michigan Central Station, so it makes a great place to eat before or after exploring the station.
This a great brunch restaurant located downtown. We enjoy walking here for brunch. We'll often walk over to Avalon right down the street for coffee while we wait.
Another one of our favorite brunch places in Detroit that we enjoy walking to from our place in downtown!
A great Mexican restaurant that's connected to a small supermarket - we love their brunch, but they're also open for dinner!
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Detroit, or wait... maybe anywhere!? Good Thai food was essential for us to move to a new city, so we were very excited to try this place while visiting to tour apartments and have been back many times since.
Ima has two locations - one in Corktown and one in Midtown. Both offer the same delicious Japanese food!
Our favorite Detroit style pizza that we've had yet! We especially love their creative menu options.
A very unique restaurant inspired by the alpine region with delicious food and an especially cozy atmosphere
A tasty bakery and coffee shop we like walking to from our place - it's just down the street from Campus Martius.
A fun bar that also has a great food located directly behind our apartment building
One of our favorite breweries in Detroit
