John and I met in our first year of law school. John was quiet and kept to himself, but I was the complete opposite, making a new friend at every turn. Looking back, we laugh at how different our personalities are now. About midway through our first semester, the school hosted The All American Ball, which was a fund-raiser for The Wounded Warrior Project, and I didn't have a date. So I asked John if he would take me and he agreed. From that point on, our friendship grew into the loving relationship we have today!

I knew that John had probably been looking at rings, because he asked me to show him some that I liked. But I was completely surprised the day he actually popped the question. We had traveled to Roanoke, VA to visit his family for the Christmas holiday. John drove us up to the Roanoke Star Overlook and it was just the two of us. He asked me to marry him and I was SO happy and excited that we completely forgot to take any pictures. We had to go back the next week and recreate the whole thing - but that just adds to the sweet memory of it all!
