For our wedding in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, the best airport to fly into is San José International Airport (SJO). After landing, you’ll embark on a picturesque 2.5 to 3-hour drive to La Fortuna. The journey will take you through lush landscapes, rolling hills, and charming villages, offering a scenic introduction to the beauty of Costa Rica. The country is safe, and the locals, known as Ticos, are warm and welcoming.
**Important Travel Tips:**
- **Passports:** Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
- **Car Rentals:** We recommend renting a car from major rental agencies at SJO, as they are reliable and transparent, unlike some smaller agencies that may have hidden fees.
- **Safety:** Costa Rica is known for its safety and friendly locals. However, like any destination, it’s wise to stay aware of your surroundings and follow local advice.
