Our relationship began two weeks before winter break. John was a freshman, and I, Kelsey, was a sophomore. Dating throughout college, we had to endure long distances for summer and winter breaks many times. We became good at honest communication and talking about anything during these hard times. After I graduated, I got a job to stay close to John and family while John finished school. We met frequently at coffee shops in Guthrie to just see each other in person, even just for a short while. John got an exciting job offer in Dallas, and I decided to move with him. We now live in Dallas with my fluffy and golden best friend. Months after living together and hinting at marriage, we went on a weekend trip to New Orleans right after our four year anniversary. We stayed near the French Quarter in New Orleans. We enjoyed small local coffee shops in the morning, beautiful and quirky sights during the day, and fun bars and jazz clubs at night. We enjoyed Cafe Du Monde and walked around Bourbon Street. On the last night, John told me to dress nice and took me to the scenic Jackson Square. Then, we went on a carriage ride led by horses. John had made fun of this the whole trip, but if you know me, anything with horses is my jam. We rode around the french quarter and enjoyed the architecture. After a bit, the carriage stopped and John led me in front of the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral. John got down on one knee, and he asked me to marry him and how he views our life. A photographer caught it all and took some sweet pictures of us after. The night ended with a fancy meal overlooking Jackson Square and endless talks about what our future looks like. John's proposal was planned to put my hopes first, but this wedding will be a combination of US.
