At the time, Kelley was living in Hoboken, NJ. It was Labor Day weekend and Kelley came out to Kent to visit her sister Mary, brother-in-law Eric and 6 month old niece Ella. Kelley was really in the mood to go to her favorite spot for the best barbecue in CT. On that Saturday while running errands, Mary, Kelley and Ella went to The Cookhouse for a late lunch. Kelley walked in holding Ella and was greeted by John who she had never seen there before. He sat them down at table 42 and was very accommodating to Ella. The connection between John and Kelley was immediate and almost obvious! Even though she was wearing white pants and just met John, Kelley proceeded to order a messy rack of ribs - she wanted him to know she was a girl who can eat! At the end of the meal, Kelley hoped John would give her his phone number, but instead disappointed her with just giving her a takeout bag instead! Meanwhile, in the parking lot ahead was Mary, who found Jasmine, a waitress going into work. She told Jasmine that she wanted to give the manager her sister's phone number. Mortified, Kelley agreed and Mary wrote her name and phone number on a napkin and gave it to Jasmine to give to John. We also told her to mention that Ella was not my baby! Laughing the whole way home, Kelley said she could never go back there again after making such a scene! Two hours later, they were floored when Kelley's phone went off. It was a text message from a CT number that said "Hey kelley its john from the cookhouse. I think you're really cute too." Before that weekend ended, Kelley and John went on two dates and have been inseparable ever since. We have Mary to thank for setting us up, or maybe neither of us would have ever had the guts to see each other again! Our wedding date is incredibly special for us because the end of August will always remind us of how our lives changed forever.

John took Kelley to her favorite place in the entire world - Nauset Light Beach on Cape Cod. It was a beautiful sunny day and although it was very windy and brisk, they went for a walk along the beach. When they reached a spot without anyone in sight, John got down on one knee and proposed. Kelley was blown away and beyond excited to say yes of course! When they walked back to the entrance of the beach, Kelley found some ladies who were willing to take their picture and they even made John re-enact the proposal! It was a perfect day.
