Kamari beach: Good swimming (though it’s a pebble-beach) and lots of restaurants. The pedestrian only street along the beach is fun to walk at night when it gets quite busy. Red beach: The most spectacular and picturesque of any Santorini beach. Volcanic sand is responsible for its red hue. Perissa beach: The best swimming beach on Santorini and has the nicest sand. (It’s black sand, so it does get hot in the summer.) Good restaurants are spread along the beach front.
See and explore the remains of the ancient Minoan Bronze-Age village that was abandoned before (and buried by) the island’s devastating volcanic eruption in the 16th Century BC. The site is the most interesting historical site on Santorini and very well preserved. You can book a tour guide to show you around the site and discuss the history of the island, the eruption, and the following destruction.
Most people flock to Oia’s cliffs to watch the sunset. It is always busy, so be prepared for crowds. If you want to view the sunset from a restaurant, make sure you book ahead! However, the best sunset view is actually from the Santo winery. Oia is beautiful but this is where we got goosebumps. Highly recommend doing a wine tasting here around sunset time, it’s worth every penny!
Renting ATVs and driving them around the island has been a highlight for many! There are tons of rental places, just ask your concierge or check on google. If ATVs aren’t your thing you can rent a car instead. It’s a lot easier to see the entire island if you’re not relying on buses or taxis!
