Gabby and I met by chance. Bumble. Neither of us had ever used online dating before so it was an odd coincidence but somehow, it worked out. Our first date I was 20 minutes late, I spilled a beer all over Gabby’s best friend’s date (they planned a “coincidental” meet up with their Bumble dates that night I was unaware of) and Gabby got so drunk she still, to this day, thinks she left Tin Roof before I did (I left at least an hour before she did). Fast forward 4 months and we’re living in a 400 square foot apartment in Broad Ripple together where we had no choice but to get to know each other. Even when we would get into an argument, the furthest you could move away from each other in the apartment was roughly arms length but, for some reason, we loved it. After almost a year and a half of living in such a small space we did what any rational adults would do... we bought the first of our two Dalmatian puppies, Ollie. 400 square feet felt like 20 square feet really fast (also, technically we weren’t allowed to have pets and Ollie ain’t a quiet dog) so we quickly found a house we fell in love with and purchased! The benefit of Gabby being a Real Estate Agent and myself a Mortgage Broker was that we both got commission when we closed on our own house! Fast forward another year and after painting, updating and furnishing our home to “our” (Gabby’s) satisfaction we finally were able to take a breath from spending money... NOT! I had been casually looking at rings and getting advice from Gabby’s mom, Lisa for about 2 months. During that time I stumbled across a car I very much liked and decided to purchase it. As I was driving my new car home I received a text from Gabby’s mother saying “you bought a car but haven't bought the ring?." She was joking, of course, but she was right. I went and bought the ring within the week and gave it to her on her birthday. A house, 2 Dalmatians and a lot of love for each other. I honestly would not trade it for anything.
