On April 19th, 2022 Emma's friend Rebecca texted her and asked if she would be interested in meeting someone. She explained that her brother in law (JT) was moving to Charlotte in a couple of weeks to coach football with his brother. At first, Emma was hesitant but she gave JT her number. JT reached out with a simple text message and the two started texting everyday. JT moved to Charlotte on May 5th. He dropped his stuff off at his brothers apartment and went straight to meet Emma as soon as he got in town. The two officially started dating on May 14th, and the rest is history.
On August 24th 2023, Jt and Emma went to the anatomy scan of their daughter, Ellie. After the anatomy scan, Emma went to work and JT went home since he had the day off. Emma got off work later than expected and headed home. When Emma walked through the door, she noticed rose petals leading her up to the stairs. When she walked up the stairs, she saw JT standing in the middle of rose petals, with a bouquet of roses and the song "marry me" was playing. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. After the proposal, they got dressed up (because Emma was in shorts and a T-shirt when he asked) and they went out to dinner to celebrate.
