John Warner and Elyse Curatolo’s story began on an ordinary winter day at Fit Body Boot Camp, near Elyse’s work, where John was the manager. Elyse joined with two of her friends, never knowing that walking through those doors would change her life forever. From the beginning, Elyse remembers feeling comforted by John’s caring demeanor, authentic kindness, and incredible attentiveness. Looking back, John says he knew Elyse was different from the moment they met. He was afraid she might not follow through with the membership and that he may never see her again. He didn’t know what the future would hold, only that he wanted more of her in it. Although neither one of them knew it quite yet, their love was already written in the stars!! Elyse returned to the gym. One special moment stands out to Elyse, when John was helping her with a very heavy weight during a workout. When their eyes met, she felt something overwhelming, a quiet certainty that this man would care for her, be there for her, and love her for the rest of her life. Once Elyse was officially in his life, John wasn’t letting her get away. He took a chance and started a conversation over text. What began with “How is yoga class?” and “Here are the terms for the gym membership once your trial is up,” slowly turned into conversations about life, family, hobbies, and one most magical, most magnificent, most sending two people leaping in to love waterfall...Triple Falls at DuPont State Forest in North Carolina. When John sent Elyse a photo of a waterfall from a mountain biking trip with his son, Elyse couldn’t believe it was the very same waterfall she had loved for years, with countless memories of visiting with family and friends to hike its trails and admire its beauty. That moment became the true beginning of a very long conversation, one that is still going on and will go on into well into forever. John and Elyse had their first date at The Melting Pot in Troy on February 16, 2023. It was the best date EVER...just like every date since. To both of them, it was clear, they had found their person. On April 4, 2025, John surprised Elyse with a trip to Traverse City, where he proposed in the most romantic way. John sang Elyse a song he had written about their love and life together while inside a treehouse in the woods, surrounded by candles, rose petals and all the stars of the night's sky. Their engagement weekend was everything they could have dreamed of and became the inspiration for a wedding in the beautiful city by the bay. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you in our love story, one that was sparked on a cold winter day by a girl looking to get fit and the man who gave her so much more.
