John and Deanna’s story is one of close calls and crossed timelines. They were both born at Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx, just a year and three months apart. Growing up, they lived only 45 minutes from each other, but their paths never crossed. Even in college, they were nearby — John at Syracuse University and Deanna at SUNY Cortland, just 30 minutes apart — building their lives in the same region without ever meeting. After graduating, John stayed in Syracuse. Deanna moved to New York City in 2016, then eventually made her way back upstate to continue teaching in Syracuse. It wasn’t until they began working at the same school that they finally met. After years of being in the same places at the same time — just slightly out of sync — their paths finally aligned, marking the beginning of their life together.
