John and Carrey were meant to find each other. Their hearts were ready to find the person they wanted to love and spend the rest of their lives with. Now, this didn't happen with them getting setup on a blind date by friends, meeting casually at the bar, or by grabbing the apple at the grocery store. Of course, on a dating app that older adults use, so no Tinder or Bumble, but one that you see commercial where old people find love. So one quiet night, John was going through profiles on the app and noticed Carrey's profile. It was the smile that captured his eye, but it was her comment on what she did that captured his heart. She commented, "I help little people find their way". He knew then that he wanted to get to know this person. He wondered who would write that if it wasn't true because that was not the pickup line anyone wanted to hear. However, it meant the world to him. He wanted to find someone to love with a big heart and was ready to share his unconditional love. After several days of communicating only by instant messaging on the app, John asked Carrey to meet for drinks. The stage was set. Now they would finally meet to determine if this could be something long and lasting. As this was the start of COVID, things were usual at this time; however, after several discussions, the decision was to go to a place near Carrey. Carrey had selected a place she was familiar with and their first date was planned. It was a small and quiet restaurant overlooking a scenic view behind the restaurant. After holding their breath when seeing each other for the first time, he felt that the pictures didn't reflect how stunning she looked. She was like, he's not bad for a balding Asian. The date started, and after 3 hours of talking, enjoying drinks, and commenting on the view, it was time to end the first date. While both didn't expect to have that long of a date, without eat dinner, it didn't matter. It was welcome for both to find someone they could potentially connect with. As they departed that first date, no kisses were exchanged, but the decision was a side hug as neither of them knew what the protocol was. So maybe that is how great relationships start. After this first date came the second, third, fourth, and so forth. What made each date extraordinary was how easy it was to talk and share anything and everything. This eventually made loving each other and being with each other easy. As they continued their journey, they found that the most simple things together meant the world to each of them, as it helped create the foundation of what they continue to do every day. They continue to be each other's best friends and experience life with each other. For the last four-plus years, they have experienced life to the fullest and continue to do that through experiences from tasting wine in Napa, to playing golf in Pinehurst, bathing the elephants, walking the Riverwalk, dancing at a country bar, and being the token Asian, to dancing to the song Amarillo by morning in Amarillo, to the most simplistic thing of walking in the park, this has transformed both them to find what love is truly is—experiencing life with someone who ultimately wants to be with you. While their hearts are connected in many ways, their future binds them, and they look forward to all that is to come. When they say to make life what you want, they embrace it each day. John wants to make Carrey fall in love with him every day, and Carrey doesn't want him to be the man of her dreams just to be "THE MAN". March 28, 2026 can't come soon enough!
