Completed in 1939 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this 7,000-square-foot Greek Revival estate was Clara and Henry Ford’s lowcountry dream home. It now serves as a community centerpiece with a riverfront swimming pool and deck, manicured gardens, formal living and dining rooms and five beautifully appointed guest suites.
We met at PLI, our 1st professional jobs in Manhattan. "I remember seeing John in a large conference room, he came in smiling, walking tall and went over to a group of guys and said something that made them all laugh. He didn't notice me then, but I remember thinking who is that? Is that the guy I keep hearing call clients with the deep voice? I hoped so. " - Bonnie "I remember walking with a group of work colleagues to a happy hour, crossing over 53rd and Broadway near the Ed Sullivan theatre. It was a larger group, with some people scattered ahead of me and behind. When I turned to look back and talk to a friend of mine, I saw a tall, beautiful woman walking with the group and thought, who is that? I have to meet her. We arrived and after I had one cocktail down and another in hand, I finally walked over, thankfully said a few things right, and the rest is history." - John
Well, John actually cancelled on me on our first date because he didn't feel well. I have to admit I was a little bothered, and must have been intrigued because apparently I texted him how annoyed I was that he cancelled on me! A few weeks past and he asked "So when am I going to get that chance to woo you?" We planned on just going for drinks after work, which was at a fun bar in midtown, and we were having a great time when he asked me "Can I take you to dinner?" and I said, "What do you mean? When?" and he said, "Now.. I meant now." I remember thinking it was so gentlemen and sweet of him. We took a cab to Carmines in Times Square and ordered a complete Italian Feast with cocktails flowing. We left the restaurant to find a blizzard had started and right there in middle of all the lights, in our favorite city, we had our first kiss.
You can find us at the beach, any chance we can be by the ocean we are both extremely happy and feel complete. Usually John is frolicking in the water, while Bonnie prefers to soak in the sun and take in the scene. We hope to live oceanfront one day. You can find us with our 4 lb. Maltese, Georgi. We bring her everywhere. We love to -- but we also have to -- because no one can babysit her because her temperament could stump even Cesar Millan. She makes us a family. You can find us taking her on walks, playing chase, and setting up in bed; Georgi with her bone, us with some vino and a classic flick about to start - what's better than that? You can find us at very traditional places and restaurants including Neary's, Wolfgangs Steak House, the local Italian spot in the neighborhood or listening to our favorite piano player over escargo. We like to meet older generations of people, ones with good stories. We can be trendy, but we prefer to go old school. If Bonnie isn't in the mood to go out, John will 100% go solo, it's no big deal to us. You can find us in the kitchen. We both love to cook, it relaxes us, and we love to see the other one enjoy the meals we make. On the weekend we usually do Italian and while Bonnie can lean towards pastas with homemade cream sauce drizzled over chicken (hey, I'm from the south), John will go towards homemade red sauce, add some sausage and have roasted vegetables on the side. Typical Saturday night: Patsy Cline or Beatles Radio, fresh mozzarella with salt, pepper, olive oil to start, glass of Cabernet, gin martini straight up with olives (very dry), and a meal simmering on the stove. Oh, and Georgi on the couch with a bone.
