We met on Christmas Eve at a Puskar Christmas Eve Party. Growing up, Blaire went to Geibel Catholic High School while John attended Connellsville Area High School. They had both knew of each other but had never officially met. They hit it off at the Christmas Party and enjoyed playing board games and telling stories about family experiences. A few weeks later, the two went on their first date and started dating in August of 2011.

After becoming a couple, John and Blaire began a long distance relationship as John attended Saint Vincent College and Blaire attended Douglas School of Cosmetology. For 4 years, the two made weekend trips to see each other. Blaire also came with John's family on many roadtrips to support him as he was a 4 year member of the baseball team at SVC. In 2015, John and Blaire both graduated within a week of each other and began their respective careers in education and cosmetology.

John's proposal story is a long one to say the least. After purchasing the engagement ring in early October, he had the entire night planned out to a T. However, due to Blaire's hectic work schedule, the night he had planned for months had to be scrapped. In order to preserve the surprise, he decided that it had to be done ASAP and with the help of Michele and his mom Lori, they planned proposal in about 12 hours. John decided drove home from Virginia at about 1:30AM and arrived in Connellsville at 5:30 which included no stops (except for getting a speeding ticket). For the proposal, he decided to plan a night at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort with both families which included dinner and a casino trip. When Michele told Blaire about the idea, she was all on board, except she had no idea John would be there. When Blaire arrived at Nemacolin, John was no where to be found, as he was at the Roulette table at Lady Luck Casino. He was shortly met there by Barry and the two were winning big. Finally, they realized in all the fun they had to leave or they would be late for dinner.

When they got back to the resort, it was then that Blaire realized that John had surprised her. They made their way to Aqueous at Falling Rock where John's parents were waiting. After having a nice dinner, both Puskar's and Malone's left after John decided he wanted to have desert. After finishing, the two made it back to the hotel and John asked Blaire to show him around the resort. Blaire worked in the spa at Nemacolin for 2 years so she knew the resort like the back of her thumb. After showing John many of the shops and art work, they walked into the atrium where Santa Claus and two of his "helpers" were next to a giant Christmas tree. (Prior to the entire night, John hired the Santa Claus to be the "icing on the cake") After walking past them, Santa said: "Blaire and John, right? we replied: yes?" I have a present for both of you. After walking towards Santa to retrive the present, John glanced at Blaire and she was scared to death (he later found out she is scared to death of Santa Claus). After receiving the present, they both unwrapped it and found confetti in the box and dug to the bottom of the box. Blaire found the ring box and John dropped to a knee and popped the question. All the time: Blaire's parents, Brooke, and Shane, John's parents, Jimmy, and his grandparents were behind a stain glassed window that put them in great view of the event. In addition: Blaire's cousin Jaylyn and John's friends Justin and Matt were also there to surprise them. Everyone proceeded to celebrate the big night for John and Blaire. From toasting the future Mr. and Mrs. with numerous Bud Light's in the hotel room, going to the casino, and getting gas station pepperoni rolls; it was a perfect night. It was not the night John had envisioned, but it turned out better than he originally planned.
