Things To Do

If you're thinking of staying in San Diego a few extra days, these are some of our favorite places!

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA

A must-see within San Diego. This is where Autumn and John had their engagement photos taken. The park is huge, and has lots of museums and beautiful architecture. Plus, it's right next to the San Diego Zoo!

San Diego Zoo

2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

One of the absolute BEST zoos in the world. It's massive and has animals you have likely never seen before. They also have a fantastic conservation program, and help protect animal habitats across the globe.

Hotel del Coronado

1500 Orange Avenue, Coronado, CA 92118

Historic beachfront hotel built in 1888 in the city of Coronado, just across the San Diego Bay from San Diego downtown. This iconic San Diego hotel has beautiful sandy beaches, multiple oceanside restaurants and bars, and nearby shopping in Downtown Coronado.

La Jolla Cove

San Diego, CA 92037

La Jolla Cove is a small, scenic cove surrounded by cliffs. The area is protected as part of a marine reserve and is popular with snorkelers, swimmers and scuba divers.

Point Loma Seafoods

2805 Emerson Street, San Diego, CA 92106

A Point Loma/San Diego staple -- serving up fish & chips, crab sandwiches, and tons of other fresh seafood for over 50 years.

Bali Hai Restaurant

2230 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego, CA 92106

Polynesian restaurant and bar in Shelter Islands within Point Loma. Bali Hai has been serving up world famous Mai Tais since 1954 (but be warned, they are not for the faint of heart)...

False Idol

675 West Beech Street, San Diego, CA 92101

One of the BEST tiki bars in the world -- False Idol is adorably themed, transporting you to the South Pacific as you sip Mai Tais inside of a pirate-like cave. Beat the crowds by making a reservation in advance (via their website).

Oscars Mexican Seafood

703 Turquoise Street, San Diego, CA 92109

Voted as having one of the best fish tacos in the US. This is one of Autumn and John's regular haunts when they come to San Diego.

The Grass Skirt

910 Grand Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109

Located in Pacific Beach, The Grass Skirt is a speakeasy-style tiki bar with modern-takes on classic tropical cocktails. John recommends their Clarified Painkiller, while Autumn can usually be found sipping on a Boozin' Susan's World Famous Chi Chi. They also have yummy Polynesian-inspired appetizers and small dishes.

La Puerta

560 Fourth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

Carne. Asada. Fries. You will never be happy with any other version ever again...

The Invigatorium

631 Ninth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

Serving Counter Culture Coffee -- the BEST

Morning Glory

550 West Date Street, San Diego, CA 92101

You will have to WAIT -- but it will be well worth it. Brunch on crack.

Noble Experiment

777 G Street, San Diego, CA 92101

Autumn went here for her 21st birthday. And several other places...

Room 56

831 Sixth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

A cozy speakeasy-style bar in the heart of San Diego downtown. The cocktail menu is large, innovative, and organized by mood. Be sure to make reservations in advance!

The Taco Stand

645 B Street, San Diego, CA 92101

Dare we say -- the BEST tacos in Southern California. They have incredible fish and shrimp tacos (along with more traditional Carne Asada and Pollo). They have multiple locations, but this one is centrally located in Downtown San Diego.

Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station

2816 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego, CA 92106

This is one of Autumn's clients! Give em some love, they're the best.

Moe's

3768 Mission Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92109

We had dinner here the night we chose Paradise Point for our wedding venue! Amazing steaks and cocktails, in an old-fashioned-yet-modern setting.

Seneca Trattoria

901 Bayfront Court, San Diego, CA 92101

Amazing new rooftop bar in the heart of San Diego downtown. Think White Lotus Season 2 vibes, but with less murder and better appetizers.

The Mission Bay Beach Club

2688 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109

We discovered this adorable bay-front club during a recent trip to San Diego. Surrounded by a scenic park, this place is great for coffee, quick bites, or cocktails (yes, they have all 3!)

La Taqueria Tijuana

1980 Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92101

Open late -- some of the BEST Mexican we've EVER had. Don't sleep on the California Burrito. Carne Asada is a MUST.
