Feel free to rent a car if you plan to explore the broader city, but if this is one of your first times in Austin and you are staying close to downtown, the city is small, walkable, and may be easier to navigate via Uber or Fetii (Party van service that can transport large groups of up to 15. Make sure the whole group has the Fetii app downloaded as you pay per person).

Airbnb / VRBO

While we will have hotel blocks available, we found that Airbnb/VRBO rentals are often more reasonably priced than some hotel rates. Definitely recommend trying to find places in Downtown Austin or Old West Austin (north of the river and in between Interstate 35 and MoPac)
