Hey everyone! I’m Ally. John and I may not have had the chance to spend a lot of time with everyone yet, so we thought we’d share a bit. John and I met on Bumble…I guess it’s the way of the world now! I never thought I’d say it, but I am so thankful for online dating because it brought me John O’Grady. We both spent our fair share of time online dating. After a long break from the dating apps, I decided I’d give it another try for 3 months. I think I had about 2 weeks left on my 3 month commitment to Bumble, and John and I matched. I remember I liked his beard in his pictures (still do!), and the fact that he was Catholic. We messaged a couple times, and had good conversation. We talked about movies and Marvel. John is a big movie buff, with a brain stockpiled with movie quotes. I had no idea the depth at the time! We were finally able to set up a time to meet, on Sunday August 26, 2023. I always liked to talk on the phone before an in person date, it just helped make things more comfortable when we met. He called me that night right after work, and we talked for 5 hours. We had so much to talk about! I could tell he was a genuine person, and cared about learning more about me. We talked again the next night…I am NOT a night owl. He was working until 10 pm. That means I was staying up really late for this guy. Sunday we met and went to Little Italy and had coffee, and talked some more. I remember seeing John for the first time, and I had this really good feeling. I’m not one who really believes in love at first sight, but from the first time I laid eyes on John things were different. Nothing was awkward, I felt comfortable, and respected. AND he laughed at my jokes. HAHA We had a great date! He walked incredibly fast ahead of me (still does), opened doors, and took me to a new coffee shop, which is something I thoroughly enjoy. I remember telling my family that this guy was different. Of course they all wanted to meet him! Hence why he met almost my entire family in our “2nd date.” John came with me for Labor Day weekend on the lake in Sandusky. He spent the whole weekend with my family of 15. He was committed, which to this day is something I really love about him. He knew family was important to me, and early on wasn’t afraid to make that a part of our lives. Everyone loved him, of course! Honestly, the rest is history. I knew pretty early on that he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and I now we get to make it official! God’s timing is truly ALWAYS the best timing. As our friends and family, if you could do us a favor and pray for our marriage, and that we would be able to keep God in the center, and remember on both the hard and easy days what’s truly important. Thank you and we love you!! P.s. hopefully I’ll get John to tell his version :)
