FAQs

If you have any other questions than what we've listed here, please reach out to the Duncan or Worley family.
Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

Guests are welcome to begin arriving on Thursday, May 1st. There will be a section in the RSVPs for Thursday arrivals as we'll need to reserve cabins. Beginning Friday, all cabins on the property are automatically reserved for our wedding guests. If you can't arrive until Saturday, please reach out to Alli or John.

Question

How do I get there?

Answer

If you plan on flying, you can either fly into Austin or San Antonio. Both are roughly an hour or so away from the property. If you rent a car, there are plenty of spots at the venue for parking. If you prefer to Uber to the property, all wedding related events will be located at the property so you won't need transportation. There are several restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shopping all within 5-15 minutes from the property that you can Uber to or carpool.

Question

Do I need to book a hotel room?

Answer

One of the many reasons we loved this venue is because guests can stay right on the property. There are 19 cabins that are all reserved for our wedding guests. To accommodate for all our dearest friends and family, it may be required for couples to share a cabin. Once we receive RSVPs, we'll send out cabin information and payment details. *If you prefer to not stay on the property or share a cabin, there are several hotels, inns and VRBO / AirBnBs nearby.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for the ceremony and reception is cocktail attire. Cocktail dresses, jumpsuits and sports jackets are all welcome. Color is encouraged. It could be quite warm in Texas in early May, so take that into consideration. Above all else we want you to be comfortable. The rest of the weekend will be very casual. Bring a bathing suit and/or river wearin' clothes for Friday. Jean shorts, tanks, tees, running shorts and athletic wear will be seen throughout the weekend. Again, the weather will likely be warm during the day with average highs in the 70-80s and lows at night in the 50-60s. Rain is also a possibility this time of year, and while a covered pavilion is available for all events please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

Question

Will food be provided at the property?

Answer

Yes, with exceptions...Dinners will be provided Friday and Saturday at the venue. For those arriving Thursday, we are looking to coordinate dinner at a restaurant in historic Gruene district (more details to come). A no-frills breakfast and lunch on Friday will be provided as an option to make sure we are fueled for a big day on the river. Think breakfast sandwiches/fruit and hot dogs/chips. On Saturday, we opted not to coordinate any large breakfast or lunch on the property. We've heard from a lot of guests that they are looking forward in exploring Gruene and the surrounding area, so Saturday before the wedding is a great time to get out and explore the many restaurants, bars, and coffee shops located within 5-15 minutes from the property (or simply grab some take-out to enjoy by the river). We'll leave it up to you to coordinate amongst your old and new friends! Also, we encourage you to bring any food/snacks of your choice. Each cabin has a full size fridge with freezer and microwave, so there's no reason to go hungry!

Question

What about beverages? What's the deal with that?

Answer

Glad you asked! Basically, the entire weekend will be BYO/self-serve - which we think is pretty cool (remember to hydrate)! Note, the one exception binging that all alcoholic beverages during the reception hours Saturday must be served from the bar staff (but that's okay because the bar is open). Also, a couple wine options will be provided with Friday's dinner. There will be coolers with bottled water around the property, but instead of guessing what everyone prefers to drink we figured we'd encourage everyone to bring whatever they like! There's plenty of fridge space in the cabins for your drinks and you should make friends with someone that brought a cooler. Also, while glass bottles are not prohibited on the property (see river rules below), they do tend to break so if there is a readily available alternative you may consider that. RIVER RULES: Glass and Styrofoam containers are prohibited on Guadalupe River by law.

Question

When is the Kentucky Derby and how can we watch it?

Answer

The 151st running of the Kentucky Derby will be on Saturday, May 3rd (wedding day). The tentative post time (aka start time) is 5:57PM. We're not saying we planned our whole wedding day around a horse race, but....the Derby will conveniently be in the middle of the cocktail hour and we will figure out a way to project the race live.

Question

What other information should I know about the lodging?

Answer

Technically, check-in time for the cabins will be at 4pm on day of arrival, however please do not let this discourage you from arriving at the property early than that. Early check-in will be allowed if rooms are ready and we will be on site with a few cabins open to store any luggage, change clothes, etc. Each cabin has a full size refrigerator, microwave, and small coffee maker (with coffee provided), so see questions above regarding bringing snacks/drinks. Check-out is by 11am on Sunday morning.
